Slow Roasted Molasses Glazed Topside Roast

A dinnertime favourite, try this delicious topside roast glazed with slow-roasted molasses.

Ingredients

  • 1 x 2 kg topside beef roast
  • 250 ml (1 cup) water
  • 125 ml (½ cup) Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ cup fresh orange juice
  • 3 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 8 ml (1 ½ t) chilli – finely chopped
  • 3 ml (½ t) ground black pepper
  • 15 ml (1 T) salt
  • 125 ml (½ cup) tomato sauce
  • 125 ml (½ cup) Huletts Molasses
  • 30 ml (2 T) butter
  • 90 ml (6 T) chutney
  • 10 ml (2 t) mixed herbs

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 160°C. 1 x Roasting Pan with Lid
  2. Place the roast in the roasting pan, fat side up
  3. Mix all the remaining ingredients together in a bowl.
  4. Baste and pour the marinade over the roast, cover and slowly roast for 4 - 5 hours.
  5. Remove the roast and leave to rest for 20 minutes, carve and serve with sides of your choice.
